Bergsteigerdorf Steinbach am Attersee

Steinbach am Attersee has been awarded the title "Bergsteigerdorf" (mountaineering village) and is therefore an ideal recreational and active vacation spot to enjoy and linger.
Mountaineering villages are idyllic mountain resorts that are dedicated to gentle alpine tourism and attach great importance to preserving the originality and the harmony between nature and people.  A total of 29 locations in Austria, Germany, South Tyrol, Slovenia and Italy have so far achieved the status of mountaineering village. Movement on one's own and therefore not using climbing aids are an important criterion.
The mountaineering villages are an initiative of the Alpine clubs. They correspond in a special way to the goals of the Alpine Convention, which strive for sustainable development in the entire Alpine region and the protection of the Alps.
