On the way to the city's landmark, the Linzertor, Salzgasse is called Eisengasse from the junction. Salt and iron played an important role in the city's development. The clearly recognisable firewalls, which were intended to protect the roofs from the spread of the flames, are impressive. In return, new building measures were imposed in order to be better protected from a fire catastrophe. The Innsbruck-style firewalls inspired some citizens to pretend to have an additional storey (Tips House). But it was all just a façade!
