Hans-Hayder-Haus

Presumably due to its favoured location, the density of inns with stables for horses was particularly high in Eisengasse between the middle of the 15th and the end of the 18th century.
If you wanted to enter the town from the south, the road led you directly into Eisengasse, which meant that about every second house was a brewery and/or inn. This also applies to the Hans-Hayder-Haus, which was originally a brewery and inn, but later ceased brewing and was known as the "Gasthaus zum Goldenen Stern" in 1772 and the "Gasthaus zur Stadt Linz" in 1869, before becoming a department store under Jakob Leitl in 1900.
