Natternbach origin In the middle of a high forest in the north of the municipality, not far from the Jungfraustein natural monument, the Natternbach springs directly from the forest floor. From the crystal-clear original source, which is surrounded by all kinds of plants and herbs, the Natternbach takes its course into the village, which it gave its name to hundreds of years ago, around 6 kilometres away. Earlier names were "Norderenbah", "Nodernbach" (derived from the stream from the north)" until the current name "Natternbach" was finally established. The Natternbach flows into the Leithenbach shortly after the municipal boundary in the south, from where its water flows via the Aschach into the Danube and finally, after around 2500 kilometres, into the Black Sea.
The course of the water can be followed on a wooden bridge directly above the source of the Natternbach. A cosy rest area invites you to linger.
