In addition to the construction of a modern outdoor sports facility, the construction of a modern sports hall was a decades-long concern of the sports-interested public, as only a few smaller school gyms were available to the sports clubs for these purposes in addition to the "Jahn-Turnhalle" of the general gymnastics club.
Therefore, when the federal government also planned a triple gymnasium with over 1200 m² as part of its new school building for the Höhere Technische Bundeslehranstalt, an agreement was reached between the city and the federal government in 1975. The agreement stipulated that the city would make a cost contribution of S 5 million for the additional development of the triple gymnasium into a district sports hall in accordance with the sports facility plan of the province of Upper Austria. In 1983, the new district sports hall was opened for sports activities. Since then, the facility has been used almost daily by Vöcklabruck's sports clubs. In 2011, the hall underwent extensive refurbishment, which primarily involved redesigning the hall floor, the baffle walls and the corridor and cloakroom ceilings.
Completely suitable for wheelchairs. The object complies with the legally stipulated ÖNORM.
