Jaidhaus Nature Reserve

Molln, Oberösterreich, Österreich
The Jaidhaus nature reserve is a valley widening of the Bodinggraben in the municipality of Molln, through which the Krummen Steyrling flows. This area, whose name goes back to a hunting lodge, is characterised by its extensive, extensively used meadows.
In earlier times, the high meadows were mown by the farmers once a year - in late summer - to produce hay and grass for the cattle. With this form of cultivation, the farmers created and maintained a valuable and species-rich cultural landscape. The end of this form of meadow cultivation also put the meadows of the Jaidhaus in danger. Today, this unique landscape is under nature conservation and is mown once a year as it used to be, thus preserving the richness of plant and animal species.
