1161 first mention of the place name Wolfesekke. 1477 first documented mention of the church, looked after from Atzbach. Belongs to the parish of Ottnang since 1750. Independent parish since 1784.
The core of the building is Gothic. First extension with a cupola by Leonhard Endthofer in 1702, remodelling and addition of the second cupola by Johann Michael Prunner in 1729.Great market fire in 1864. West tower with pointed spire 1867/68. Originally the tower stood to the south of the choir nave, above the sacristy. Baroque high altar until 1890, followed by historicist furnishings.
The interior was remodelled in 1972 as a parish church in the spirit of the Second Vatican Council.
In the 1970s and 80s, local artists and craftsmen designed the organ case ( Franz Bachmayr), the statue of St George ( Johannes and Martin Schildberger), the altar ( Fritz Gast), tabernacle, Bible stand and candlesticks ( Franz Bachmayr) and the St George fresco on the outer wall (Franz Bucar).
