Schatzsuche im Tannermoor - Finde die Naturjuwelen der versunkenen Stadt

Liebenau, Oberösterreich, Österreich
  • Suitable for groups
  • Suitable for kids (all ages)

We immerse ourselves in the fascinating world of the Mühlviertel Tanner Moor. We will explore this living history book and the habitat of rare plants and animals as little scientists.
The expedition will take us to the mountain pine moor. We might even find the treasure of the sunken city. In no time at all, we will have made our own little souvenir. We can take our enthusiasm from the moor home with us!

The Tanner Moor is the highest raised forest bog in Austria.

Tanner Moor
Covered by an almost impenetrable thicket of mountain pines and surrounded by a dense spruce forest, Austria's largest raised bog, the Tanner Moor in the municipality of Liebenau, is actually quite hidden.

Spread over more than one square kilometre, it is home to extremely rare plants and animals, such as the raised bog ground beetle, the Baltic peat moss and the small-fruited cranberry, which make the Tanner Moor unique even beyond the borders of Upper Austria.

Due to the extremely favourable local climate, one of the largest moor landscapes in Austria was able to develop here in the municipality of Liebenau and the neighbouring Waldviertel. Many of these moors were drained in the past and are now used for forestry in particular, but in total they are an unimaginable water reservoir that can be regarded as a regional climate machine and flood protection.
