Fishing in the river Alm

Fly fishing in the Alm in the Grünau / Scharnstein area:

The alpine river is considered a popular fishing area for fly fishermen.

The water quality of the alpine pasture is very high, namely drinking water quality.
For this reason, the water is often used for fish farming.
Rainbow trout, brown trout and grayling are mainly found in the alpine pasture.

Day tickets for the Alm are only issued for guests with a minimum of 3 overnight stays due to the small number of tickets available. Every fish guest must be in possession of a fishing permit and an annual fishing permit for Upper Austria. This annual pass replaces the license book and can be purchased online in advance at https://www.lfvooe.at/anmeldung-zur-jahresfischkarte-zahlscheinsystem/.

Price per combined day ticket: € 80,-- (Alm FVA + upper Alm)
Price annual pass Upper Austria: € 28,--

Guest ticket*: € 20,--
* Guest fishermen from non-German speaking countries need a fishing guest card in addition to the fishing license, annula pass and day ticket!

Annual tickets for Upper Austria and fish tickets for the Alm River are available for holiday guests at the Almtal tourist office! We kindly ask for a ticket reservation.

From Kirchmühler weir Grünau to Steinbach bridge

Fishing is done with an artificial fly without barbs - 2 fish are taken, of which only one brown trout!
