Ceiling bogs lie over the ground like a blanket and adapt to the terrain. This special type of raised bog is extremely rare and occurs only five times in all of Austria. Two of these five bogs are the big and small Löckermoos in Gosau.

Unique flora and dreamlike surroundings

Only perfectly adapted plants can survive in such extreme locations. The big Löckenmoos on the crest of the "Löckenmoosberg" and its smaller twin on a lower-lying ridge are largely covered by mountain pines.

In the middle of the big Löckenmoos, like an eye, lies the Löckensee. As a moor water, the lake is brown in colour, the bottom is not visible, and so the Löckensee is said to be shallow, even though it is only 1.5 to 2 metres deep.

The moor and the lake are accessible via a hiking trail on wooden footbridges and offer a magnificent view on the Gosaukamm.

Experience a 360° panorama tour through Gosau valley…

The Löckermoos is accessible from the middle fo may to October.
