Programmierschule für Kinder im Mühlviertel

Hagenberg im Mühlkreis, Oberösterreich, Österreich

Programming is the future - with us you will learn the most important basics in a fun way from our experts. If you take part regularly, you will receive a certificate at the end of the course!

Who is the programming school for?

Children and young people aged 10 to 15 can take part. No prior knowledge is required and participation is completely free of charge.

When do the programming sessions take place?

We meet a total of 6 times in the respective semester at our premises in Hagenberg. A one-off registration is required at the beginning - there are only a limited number of places available.

You must register online to take part in the programming school. There are 6 dates in each semester and the courses are based on Code Studio, so you will learn the basics of computer science in a fun way as part of a team. We start together with block-based programming and therefore do not expect any previous coding knowledge.

  • We are a team - that means we help each other to solve programming challenges.

Information for parents

What is the programming school?

The Programming School is a platform for children and young people who want to learn how to programme, because nowadays you can hardly do without programming. That's why we believe that programming is the future - for our children too. For this reason, we have decided to set up the first programming school in the Mühlviertel.

Programming clubs for children are already very popular, especially in Asia and the USA, but they are still less well known in Austria. We want to change this and are therefore making our experts available at regular intervals from April 2019 to teach children about the world of programming in a fun way. Kids interested in technology will learn how to programme software using child-friendly programmes. Different levels of difficulty allow beginners and advanced users to experience success.

It is important to us that creativity and fun come first, because in our programming school we want to focus on joint discovery, growth, teamwork, mentoring and self-organised learning and experimentation. We want the kids to immerse themselves in the world of technology, computers and software with us.

Is programming important for children and young people?

Programming is increasingly becoming a new cultural technique. In the future, every job will require digital expertise or at least a basic digital understanding. In addition, programming languages developed specifically for children can strengthen their media skills as they can create interactive stories. Another positive aspect is that programming promotes children's reading skills and mathematical understanding.

Programming is not yet an integral part of everyday school life. The programming school can broaden the perspective of children and young people with regard to their future career choices, as good technicians are in high demand today. The kids can therefore find out whether a technical profession in the field of software development might interest them.

How doesthe programming school work?

Our motivated mentors programme together with the kids to develop or expand their programming skills. The most important thing for us is that the children have fun learning together and can try out new things.

We work with child-friendly programmes and make sure that the content is only suitable for children. The programming school should not be a place for playing computer games together, but should focus entirely on learning programming.

What are the costs?

The programming school is completely free of charge. The use of rental equipment is also free of charge.

Can my child come if they already have programming skills?

Any child who is interested in the world of programming is welcome. Whether beginner or advanced, we look forward to welcoming everyone and cater to the individual needs of the kids. At the programming school, children are encouraged to try things out together, help each other and share their experiences and skills with their peers. This also promotes social skills and teamwork.

What do parents need to watch out for?

The children must be brought to and collected from the programming school by an adult. Parents are not required to be present during the programme school, as our mentors are responsible for supervising their children.
We would like to take photos and videos during the sessions, which we will publish on our social media channels and our website for the purpose of documenting the event. If you do not wish to have photos of your child taken, please note this on the registration form or send a note to this effect in person or by email to schule@countit.at .

What does my child need to bring?

If you have your own notebook or smartphone, please bring it with you. In the event that no notebook or smartphone can be brought along, we will provide loan devices.
