Art Festival Perspectives Attersee

PERSPECTIVES 2025: July 12 - August 3, 2025 Between dystopia and utopia 15 years of the Perspectives Festival. The third time under the direction of Barbara Gölles and Thomas Kasebacher.

What remains when everything begins to totter? What comes when nothing seems certain anymore?

For three weeks, the Perspectives Festival at Lake Attersee shows how we think, what we feel, how we could act - beyond stagnation and cynicism. Multidisciplinary. Immersive. Awake.

DYSTOPIA/UTOPIA
Shift to the right, climate crisis, rollbacks against women's, POC and LGBTQIA+ rights. War as a permanent state, ignorance as an ideology. We ask what art can do to counter this. And what we want to oppose.
EXHIBITION & INSTALLATIONS
Exhibition: The French-Belgian duo Aubrit & Beillard show a bourgeois world in collapse in the Atterseehalle. Life-size wooden figures populate the space - on Saturdays they are brought to life. Installation: Right next door: An island garden by Alfredo Barsuglia - from Lake Traunsee to Lake Como and Salt Lake City. Only Lake Attersee is missing. A walk-in setting that can also be inhabited:
Sleeping: 15 sleeping places per weekend. "Homely" and private in your own lake. Hosted on the 4 weekends by various people, including Barsuglia himself. The Sunday breakfast is supported by Pop Chop, 4 Sundays, 4 different breakfasts - also for non-sleepers.
Art in public space: Gilemeih - Heimelig read backwards, a 3 meter high sculpture refers to the festival.

PROGRAMME
Music: Between feminist post-punk, noise and dark folk and Iranian and Western music traditions - Leber, Celestial Guard and Mona Matbou Riah, Isabella Forcinti & Manu Mayr.
Performance: Magdalena Forster turns both her body and organ pipes into resonance chambers. Sebastian Lehner takes a sledgehammer to social norms with precise sabotage. Aubrit & Beillard perform the exhibition every Saturday.
Cinema: "Noch lange keine Lipizzaner" by Olga Kosanović - about being a stranger in your own country, "To close your eyes and see fire" and "Roter Himmel" in Max Kaufmann's moving milieu truck.
Workshops, readings and discourse: in the sauna and in the gym - Doris Uhlich, Magdalena Stammler and period. Magazine.
Fashion: an old Slovenian kiosk becomes a temporary store with Eva Blut, Margaret and Hermione, Meshit and Rosa Mosa.
Food: on the 4 Sundays, 4 different breakfasts - supported by Pop Chop.

STRUCTURE
The exhibitions in the Atterseehalle run continuously and there are daily introductions. Mon - Sun Café and museum store in the Atterseehalle Mon - Sun Fashion in the kiosk on the Stern&Hafferl Wiese All other program points - performance, music, cinema, food, sleep, workshops and discourse - take place on the weekends.

Between apocalypse and possibility. Dystopia is not the end. Perhaps it is the beginning.

At all events and exhibitions we have pay as you wish. Sleeping incl. breakfast: single bed €65 per person and double bed €55 per person (from 16 years). Breakfast for non-overnight guests: €35 per person Workshop Doris Uhlich: €30 one day, €50 two days

The curators will cook for the opening on July 12 and invite you to the table at 19:00 in the Atterseehalle!
