Here's how to get to the Grüne Erde World in the Almtal:

We recommend traveling by public transportation!

By train:
From the Wels train station, take the Almtalbahn (Line 153) toward Grünau im Almtal to the Viechtwang stop.
From there, a hiking trail leads you to Grüne Erde-Welt ( walking time approx. 30 minutes).
There are numerous connections from Wels Station to the mainline trains on the Westbahn line (Line 101) to Linz/Vienna or Salzburg, and to Passau (Line 150)

By bus:
OÖVV Bus Line 480 Viechtwang – Scharnstein – Pettenbach – Inzersdorf (- Schlierbach) – Kirchdorf/Krems; Steinfelden stop (formerly Kastlwirt, now Wirt zur Ledan)
From there, a hiking trail leads you to Grüne Erde-Welt ( walking time approx. 10 minutes).

With the Salzkammergut Shuttle Service Route 70 from Scharnstein (Mühldorf train station) or from Pettenbach (train station) to the Grüne Erde-Welt stop, please call the taxi dispatch center at least 1 hour in advance at 050-422 422 or book online at www.salzkammergutshuttle.at.

Traveling by bike:
Coming from Wels or Linz, take the R 11 Almtal Bike Trail via Pettenbach to Viechtwang. Or take the R 4 Traun Cycle Path or the R 6 Roman Cycle Path, or come from Passau via Vöcklabruck and Schwanenstadt to Lambach, past the Lambach Traun Power Plant, and on to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting toward Vorchdorf Einsiedling. Continue along the bike route for a short stretch on the R 13 Traunviertler Cycle Path to the R 11 Almtal Cycle Path via Pettenbach to Viechtwang.
You can also take the bike route on the Traunviertel Tour from Gmunden via St. Konrad and Scharnstein to Viechtwang.
From Viechtwang, follow the signs for the hiking trail (which also serves as a bike route) to Grüne Erde-Welt.

By car:
Take the A1 West Highway from Linz or Vienna, or the A8 Inntal Highway from Passau—Wels— Voralpenkreuz—A9 toward Graz—take the next exit for Ried/Traunkreis—Voitsdorf – Pettenbach – take the B120 toward Scharnstein – turn toward Steinbach am Ziehberg – after about 500 meters, the entrance to Grüne Erde-Welt is on the right.

From the Westautobahn A1 coming from Munich–Salzburg— take the Regau exit—follow the B145 to Gmunden (also applicable when traveling from Bad Ischl)—continue on the B120 via Scharnstein toward Pettenbach - Take the turnoff toward Steinbach am Ziehberg—after about 500 meters, the entrance to Grüne Erde-Welt is on the right.
