Scharfling chapel

St. Lorenz am Mondsee, Oberösterreich, Österreich
The chapel, which originally stood here on Paul Bauererngrund, had to be removed on the occasion of the road construction.
In 1963, the new chapel was built as a replacement. In 1967 it was still empty. Franz Hammerl had inherited a statue of the Virgin Mary from his grandmother and found a worthy place there. Mrs. Josefa Löberbauer mounted the wooden frame with a glass front. Unfortunately, the glass was smashed very soon. Therefore the family Kogler (Paulbauer) had the grid attached. The identification in the grid J. u. St. K. points to Johann and Stefanie Kogler (Paulbauer, Scharfling). The two pictures, Sacred Heart and Sacred Heart of Mary are a donation from the family of pharmacists Wölfler, who owned the neighboring house.
At the end of the sixties an initiative of the rescue of the water at the chapel became a hl. Mass celebrated, which was very well attended.
Several times over the years, the roof had to be renewed. The first time Wolfgang Wiener took over the costs. In 2010, these were carried by the mediation of Georg Hammerl, Holzingerbauer, by the municipality of St. Lawrence. For more than 40 years Franz Hammerl (Holzinger Franz) has been looking after the care of the chapel with great dedication.
