Where are you coming from?
Where are you going, human being?
In each of us is the legacy of evolution, of the development of humankind. The museum tells the exciting story of the evolution of mankind and ventures a glimpse of where this development could still go. Fascinating, evocative and thought-provoking.
The Schmiding Evolution Museum makes the evolution of humans and their cultures come alive for young and old. Right next to Schmiding Zoo, an exciting journey through space and time awaits, through the moving history of mankind, beginning 6 million years ago in Africa, to the possible future development that still lies ahead of us.
You will see Neanderthals on the hunt, impressive cave paintings, wander through an ancient Egyptian tomb to sunken cultures in ancient America, discover indigenous peoples such as the Naga in northern India, explore the origins of our world religions and their special features, and take a look into the future of evolution and scientific research.
Lifelike dioramas and unique objects bring the past and future of humankind to life for visitors.
