GEMÜSEHOF VOGGENEDER: HOW MANUEL STOCKINGER IS REINVIGORATING THE REGION WITH PRODUCT DIVERSITY AND INNOVATION

Gemüsehof Voggeneder lives and grows where fertile alluvial soils were once formed not far from the Danube. Manuel Stockinger, who is constantly reinventing vegetable growing with his enthusiasm for variety and innovation, combines his past and modernity on the farm. But what motivated Manuel to convert his farm from a "normal" operation, which had been in the family for four generations, to a completely organic approach? It wasn't just the vegetables, but also his own passion behind it.

How many different types of vegetables can Manuel Stockinger list? At least 130, because that's how many different varieties the organic farmer cultivates. It's hard to believe that 30 years ago the farm was still just a dairy farm.
The great variety is probably due to Manuel's open willingness to experiment and his fascination with trying out new things. One particularly successful "experiment" was the cultivation of ginger and sweet potatoes, which are rarely found in the region. Over the years, this constantly evolving range of produce has become one of the farm's unique selling points. Manuel Stockinger attaches great importance to supplying the region with fresh, seasonal vegetables all year round. In addition to traditional varieties such as salads, which are available from March to November, and potatoes, which are available all year round, the vegetable farm also offers unusual vegetables: Artichokes, edamame, chilli, chard, pak choi or Jerusalem artichokes are just some of the wide range on offer. This large selection of additional products complements the farm's regional range.

In 2019, the farm was officially recognised as an organic farm - something that not only benefits the flora and fauna, but also something that Manuel's customers appreciate in the taste of the vegetables. In addition to his own vegetables, the farm shop also sells other regional products such as eggs, pasta, vinegar and oil. The strawberry field, where families can pick their own strawberries in June, is also particularly popular.

The Voggeneder vegetable farm is an experience for young and old alike. Manuel not only invites his guests to come and pick strawberries in June, but also offers vegetable tastings for tourists. The farm is very easy to reach, especially from the Danube Cycle Path or the Alpenblick route. The combination of enjoyment and insight into regional agriculture makes the farm a special destination for national and international visitors. Last but not least, the farm conveys a relaxed and familiar atmosphere that invites you to experience the constant work on the farm for yourself. And if you can't get enough of the produce at the vegetable farm, you are sure to find what you are looking for in the farm shop and can take something fresh home with you.
