Ortsbrunnen in Sandl (Europäische Wasserscheide)

The local fountain symbolises the European watershed.

At the fountain with a view towards Sandl, the water flows to the right of the main road into the Maltsch and on via the Vltava to the Elbe and then into the North Sea.

To the left of the main road, the water flows into the Reisingerbach and on to the Flammbach, which flows into the Schwarze Aist. This joins the White Aist in Weitersfelden and becomes the Waldaist. In Hohensteg (south of Pregarten), the Feldaist and Waldaist join to form the Aist, which flows into the Danube between Mauthausen and Au an der Donau (municipality of Naarn). The Danube finds its destination in the Black Sea.
