Dachstein chapel Hallstatt

Hallstatt, Oberösterreich, Österreich
The Dachstein chapel is located directly at the Simony hut on the Dachstein Mountains. It lies at an altitude of 2206 meters and is considered as the highest church in the Northern Limestone Alps.

History

The chapel was built in 1913 by the master builder Matthäus Schlager and consecrated in 1914 by the Bishop Rudolf Hittmair in Linz, to whom the plaque unveiled in the Dachstein chapel in 1925 commemorates. The 100th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone and consecration were celebrated in 2013 and 2014 respectively. The chapel is under monument protection

Simony hut

The Simony Hut is located in the immediate vicinity of the Dachstein chapel and has always served as a shelter for hikers on the Dachstein. Summer and winter, the Simony Hut is an ideal base for hikers, mountaineers, climbers and snowshoe hikers in the Holiday Region Dachstein Salzkammergut
