Meet the Steyr Christkindl!

What could be more beautiful than a pre-Christmas visit to the city where the “Christkind” resides? Where ancient traditions come alive again and remind many of their own childhood. In the Christkindl city of Steyr, a personified Christkindl has been brought to life.

On the Advent weekends, the Steyr Christkindl is out and about in the city center and can also be booked for exclusive appearances.

The costume, consisting of a bodice, skirt, and coat, a crown, and a cap, is designed based on historical templates. The tailored costume draws inspiration from the Baroque Lamberg figure of the Annunciation Angel in its design, craftsmanship, and silver embroidery. The color scheme of the costume features green, silver, and white, as these colors are reflected in the festive attire of Steyr, designed by Dr. F. Lipp.

The master tailor Waltraud Musenbichler processed 196.5 meters of fabric and trimmings and adorned the costume with an additional 540 crystal-colored Swarovski stones.
