The 40th anniversary celebrations of VOEST in 1985 and the Austrian Trade Union Federation's "Grabe, wo du stehend" campaign were the impetus for founding the history club.

Specific research into the history of VOEST, its expansion, technical development and restructuring of the work as well as its economic and social policy development from the beginning to the present; Study of the working and living conditions of the people working here as well as their social situation, political behavior and the status within society
