Municipal Office Vorderstoder

Vorderstoder has about 815 main residences and 390 secondary residences, as well as 360 houses on an area of 37.4 km². Touristically, Vorderstoder offers 425 guest beds and 45,000 overnight stays!

The small mountain village of Vorderstoder, at an elevation of 808 m, is the highest located place in Upper Austria south of the Danube and developed at the transition from the Windischgarstner basin into the Steyrtal. The altitude allowed only a moderate agricultural yield and thus a sparse population. The area of the municipality of 3711 hectares consists of two-thirds forest and rocky terrain and extends to the Warscheneck in the south. The population, which was just under 1,000 in 1869, has decreased rapidly, especially after World War II, to 690 by 1980, but today, thanks to ongoing construction activity, has risen again to 800.
