In the facade of the building on Stadtplatz 18, a Roman stone is immured, on which a man and a woman (presumably a married couple) are depicted in relief on a round medallion.
In the 18th century, the population of Wels still believed that the couple was a medieval one, which had survived the plague together.
The town pastor Felix von Froschauer (died 1810), who was concerned with the ancient past of the City of Wels, dispelled with this legend, since he clearly recognized the relief as Roman.
