The Town Tower

This building at the upper part of the city square (house number 31) is the oldest building in the city (dates back to the time of the founding). The square tower, with its high tent roof is also called "Citizen Tower" and was used as a watchtower in the past. You can only reach the top floor by stairs, which are put on the outside of the tower and were not roofed in the past. The ground floor was filled up with stones and earth. The house outlasted the blaze in the year 1380 because it was made of stone and it was, compared to the other houses around shifted back. The tower accommodated the music school from 1938 to 1955.
