Chronicle Parish Grieskirchen
("Gries": gravelly bank of the Trattnach river)
The oldest documentary mention dates back to 1075 when the church was handed over to the monastery of St. Nikolas near Passau. A thorough exterior renovation in 1990 gave the church its present, widely known appearance. The tomb monument of Sigmund von Polheim (died 1598) and his wife Potentiana is of unique beauty and importance. It is an art-historical rarity from the 16th century.
