The church was built between 1964 and 1968, as the number of Protestant Christians in Bad Hall had risen sharply due to the influx of ethnic German expellees towards the end of World War II. In 1978, an independent Protestant parish was established (separation from the parent parish of Neukematen).
In the evangelical church of Neukematen, an altarpiece painted by a former spa guest from Bad Hall, Baron von Münchhausen, is displayed.
