The first church on this site was erected in 1307, but all that remains of it now is the vestibule entered through the tower portal. In 1725, having been severely damaged during the War of the Spanish Succession in 1703, the church was rebult in the Baropue style by Jakob Pawagner, the architect who designed Passau Cathedral. It was completed by a French artillery attack in 1809m, was once rebuilt just five years later. The interior was renovated in 1975

It was completed by Johann Michael Fischer of Munich and although severaly damaged by a French artillery attack in 1809, was once again rebuilt just five years later. The interior was renovated in 1975.

The church is open all day.
