In 1481 the famous mill first appeared in historical documents.
The mill´s name probably derives from a miller named Johann Weiglmüller, who owned the building in the 15th century. In 1981 the mill was closed, but the sawmill is still in operation.
Originally, the mill was divided into two milling sections, both driven by a giant water wheel 4.6m in diameter. In 1940 the first section was completely remodeled and replaced by a modern platen. The authentic and well preserved milling tools are more than 100 years old and can be admired in original size.
In one of the oldest parts the mill hosts a little inn where hearty snacks and typical drinks are served. Enjoy the very special ambiance of this 500-year-old building!
