Zwölferhorn Cable Car

A little taste of the joy of reaching the summit awaits hikers and nature lovers at the Zwölferhorn.
The 1,522-meter-high Zwölferhorn is not only St. Gilgen’s local mountain but also one of the most beautiful scenic peaks in the Salzkammergut, which you can reach in just 11 minutes via the Zwölferhorn cable car.
The gondolas offer a comfortable ride, a breathtaking view, and plenty of space. This makes the Zwölferhorn accessible to everyone, including families with children and all their gear.
The hike from St. Gilgen takes 2.5 to 3.0 hours, depending on your pace and fitness level, and there are cozy places to stop for refreshments along the way!

The Zwölferhorn is an absolute hotspot for paragliders and offers fascinating, unforgettable views of the lakes of the Salzkammergut. The Zwölferhorn cable car takes you to the launch site in just eleven minutes.

Up the Mountain with Solar Power
Since summer 2024, the Zwölferhorn cable car has been the first in the world to transport guests up the mountain using pure solar power.
The photovoltaic system achieves a direct self-sufficiency rate of over 90%. From February to November, the gondolas even float up to the Zwölferhorn completely energy-autonomously.
