In 1989, the market town of Naarn acquired the building, which was first mentioned in 1796, with the aim of establishing a local history centre. After careful renovation, the building was opened in July 1992. The small building has three rooms and a covered cellar for exhibitions. A ship's train fresco from 1797 is attached to the outside of the building. The owner at the time - a ship's servant by profession - had the motif (artist unknown) applied. It shows a ship's train with eight horses and three ships with riders, hangers-on and sailors. The FORUM NAARN cultural association was founded in 2012. The building was refurbished and the fresco renovated between the founding of the association and 2014. The new construction of the barn with barrier-free sanitary facilities enables it to be used for smaller cultural events. The entire ensemble was reopened in June 2014 with an exhibition on the topics of ship trains, timber floating on the Aist and Danube rafting.
