The Wilhering Abbey Museum takes visitors on a concise journey through nearly 900 years of monastic history—brought to life in six themed rooms and a dedicated Fritz Fröhlich exhibition.

To mark the 100th anniversary of Fritz Fröhlich’s birth, the Cistercian Abbey of Wilhering opened the new Fritz Fröhlich Collection in specially adapted rooms of the so-called Meierhof.
The newly redesigned exhibition at the abbey museum offers a concise overview of Fröhlich’s artistic work spanning several decades.

Fritz Fröhlich is one of the most renowned artists of the 20th century in Upper Austria. Fröhlich, who remained artistically active until his death, left behind an extensive body of work centered on painting. This was complemented by other areas of focus, including printmaking, collage, and sculpture. He also created several frescoes, undertook projects in public spaces, and carried out restoration commissions.
