Herrgottsitz

Schönau im Mühlkreis, Oberösterreich, Österreich
  • pets allowed
  • Suitable for kids (all ages)

One of the most beautiful bowl stones in the Mühlviertel is the Herrgottsitz - supposedly an early Christian place of worship and sacrifice.

At 855 metres, the steep rocky outcrop is also the highest point in Schönau. On a clear day, there are marvellous panoramic views as far as the Alpine foothills. The Herrgottsitz is located on hiking trail no. 80 approx. 1.5 km north-west of Schönau.
The Lord God is said to have rested in the seat-shaped hollow at the top of the hill and looked out over the Mühlviertel hills with a gentle smile.

The Herrgottsitz can be hiked to at any time.

Accessibility / arrival
