In terms of style, the church can be categorised as neoclassical - Viennese cubic style. The nave has a double domed vault. The current tower in its neo-Gothic form was built on the occasion of the 50th anniversary in 1895 to replace an earlier small tower.
The 4 bells of the parish church were cast in 1845 in the Hollereder foundry in Linz, consecrated in the Carmelite Church in Linz and then transported to Alberndorf. The bells, weighing a total of 20 hundredweights, were consecrated to St Mary, St Ferdinand, St Gregory and St John Nepomuk. The bells were hoisted into the tower on 16 August. The bells rang out for the first time that evening.

On Monday, 18 August 1845, the church was consecrated by Bishop Gregorius Thomas Ziegler in the name of "Maria Himmelfahrt".
