Parish churches St James the Elder
St James is usually depicted with a staff and a pilgrim's shell. Churches dedicated to St. James were often built at springs where travellers stopped for refreshment.
This is how the church in Neumarkt is said to have originated as St James' Church.
St James is depicted several times in our church:
- On the high altar in the centre with a pilgrim's staff, which is also a rudder (patron saint of pilgrims
and boatmen).
- To the right of the high altar on a painting as a simple pilgrim with staff and lamp.
- In the church interior on the left on a Baroque painting, which was the main image of the Baroque high altar
high altar that stood in our parish church until the 19th century.
- At the south portal, a modern bronze gate depicting the life and legends of the saint.
saint.
The church is open to you every day, except during church services.
