Attersee Bahn - The local railway from Vöcklamarkt to Attersee: On the route from Vöcklamarkt to Attersee, the Atterseebahn offers contemporary mobility for schoolchildren, commuters and excursion guests. In addition to the scheduled trips, there are also various special trips on the programme: for example, an adventure trip to the Keltenbaumweg (Celtic Tree Trail).

In the hinterland of Lake Attersee, the beautiful Attergau region attracts friends of the Salzkammergut. It is the picturesque landscape with all its characteristics that makes a journey on the Attersee railway so rewarding, but don't forget all the excursion possibilities and sights.

In addition to regular traffic, the Attersee railway offers special tours: On an adventure tour through the picturesque landscapes of the Attergau region you are taken to the Keltenbaumweg (a themed trail on the celtic culture in this area). Those interested in nostalgic railways will love the combination of boat and old carriages on the Attersee railway. A journey on the Attersee railway perfectly combines with a tour on a ship or a hike in the region. If you want, you can even obtain a driver's licence for the Atterseebahn.

Historical development
The development of tourism in the early 20th century led to a variety of local train projects. One of those that were actually put into practice was the stretch from Vöcklamarkt to Attersee on Lake Attersee as part of a planned 'Voralpenbahn' along the foothills of the Alps. In the oldern days, transport of goods was a major aspect, today, the primary mission of the historic railway lies in the transport of people (students, commuters and tourists).
