Contemporary history in the showroom of the miners' club
Glück Auf! Numerous original exhibits, documents and pictures from the history of mining, which have left their mark on the Hausruck region economically, socially and culturally over generations, have been lovingly collected and arranged into an exhibition in the Kohlgrube miners' chapel building in Wolfsegg. As a true "original" and walking mining encyclopaedia, who experienced the heyday of coal mining in the region himself, Adalbert Valenta talks about the emergence of the mining village of Kohlgrube - a settlement area that was created by the introduction of coal mining in the Hausruckviertel - and the developments of one of the most important economic sectors from the past. His memories captivate the audience, not least because of his authentic narrative style. A piece of contemporary history comes to life and brings this traditional era back into the present as cultural heritage. With the completion of the new music centre of the miners' band in Kohlgrube, a showroom was set up and founded in 1999 by Deputy Chairman Karl Sulzbacher and Christine Sulzbacher. This showroom deals with the living and working conditions of the people from the beginning of the mine in our home community of Wolfsegg am Hausruck. The organiser welcomes visits from school classes who incorporate our exhibition into their history lessons.
