Observatory Gahberg
The observatory Gahberg in Weyregg am Attersee is the club observatory of the Astronomischer Arbeitskreis Salzkammergut and was built in 1987/1988 by the active members of the club in over 3,000 working hours. It is located at an altitude of 860 metres above sea level. In 2003/2004 the observatory complex was extended and equipped with numerous telescopes.

It has a comprehensive collection of special telescopes for lunar, solar and planetary observation, as well as for observing faint objects. The private observatory is very well suited for sky photography with conventional and digital photography.

Planned observatory tours are no longer published (not in newspapers, not on the homepage, not in the club newspaper) the tours are e-mailed 2 to 3 days in advance - only to people who have registered their interest with us with their e-mail – and then there is a limit on the number of visitors and participation is only possible if you make a reservation. Further information is available on the service telephone: +43 7662 8297 or by e-mail info@astronomie.at.
On average, around 1000 visitors come to the Gahberg Observatory every year.
