St. Georg Riding Camp

St. Georgen am Walde, Oberösterreich, Österreich

Would you like to learn to ride? Go for a ride? Get to know the "horse" in its natural environment? - WE will help you to develop your dream!

In addition to breeding Icelandic horses, the St. Georg Riding Campus also runs an Icelandic horse riding school. Riders and horses of all ages are trained. In addition to the riding technique of gaited horses, the aim is to familiarise students with the nature of horses and the handling of these animals. The aim is to develop a safety-orientated rider with his reliable partner horse, whereby the rider determines the direction, speed and gait at all times, regardless of whether it is a trail ride or a competition at a show.

Above the fog line in the middle of the largest network of bridleways in Europe - "Mühlviertler Alm" and "Donauland-Strudengau" - there are more than 1000 kilometres of marked bridleways available.

There is a suitable environment for all horse breeds and their disciplines. From the riding tracks (250 m and 200 m oval tracks and 500 m pass track), 2 dressage arenas, lunging circles, jumping arena, eventing track, everything is available - even a "dwarf riding arena" for the smallest riders.

A camp week lasts from Sunday afternoon (from 16:00) to Saturday morning (until 12:00). The riding lessons of two riding sessions a day take place from Monday to Friday and include ground work and horse care. Theory units are essential. Lessons are given in small groups of three to five people. The social behaviour of horses in the various herd groups is explained by means of observation tasks that are solved in groups.

An alternative programme such as ball games, campfires and swimming round off the day.

You will sleep in a bunk bed camp with its own sanitary facilities in the farm's former granary.

At the end of each camp week, the "Little or Big Haruckstein Horseshoe" can be acquired depending on ability. The exam serves as proof of the knowledge acquired during the week.
