The Parish of Kirchheim: From 1488 to 1786, our parish was administered as a branch of the Gurten parish. Under Emperor Joseph II, Kirchheim was elevated to the status of an independent parish in 1786 as part of the new parish reorganization.
Our Church: The church dates back to the 14th century and was built in the Gothic style as a wide, single-nave hall with ribbed vaults. In 1763, the presbytery and the Chapel of Our Lady were remodeled in the Baroque style. In 1941, the Neo-Gothic high altar was replaced by a beautiful new Baroque altar. The church is dedicated to Saint Nicholas. In 1989 and 1990, the church was renovated and an extension was added. A distinctive feature of the renovation is the central gallery. The organ, built in 1887 by organ builder Muracher of Salzburg, has 12 stops.
