The Aschach valley is a valuable natural area, primarily due to its hillside forests The Aschach valley nature conservation area offers a wild and romantic landscape with forests that grow on rocky, literally "stone-rich" soils.

The terrain in the Aschach Valley with its steep and exposed slopes presents plants and animals with major challenges. The trees cling to thickly moss-covered boulders with their roots. Tree species such as sycamore maple, ash, lime and copper beech characterise these forests, which follow the path of the Aschach towards the Danube. These trees are often more than 100 years old. The difficult accessibility of this natural jewel means that only a few buildings have been built here, thus preserving an important, near-natural habitat for plants and animals.
