In the Hinterstadt district, a historic inn has been brought back to life. Following a thorough restoration, the former Schmid-Leingartner Inn has been given a new lease on life and will reopen in the fall of 2023 under the name “stadtwirt bruck.” Located just 100 meters from the town square, the innkeeper is driving the revitalization of the downtown area.
The restaurant is managed by Vöcklabruck-based chef Claus Schiller, who completed his culinary apprenticeship in 2009 at the Residenz Häupl on Lake Attersee. Afterward, the restaurateur lived for over a decade in the Chinese city of Changzhou, where he served Austrian cuisine at the Jägerwirt. With 17 years of experience in the industry, he returned to his hometown to modernize the traditional Vöcklabruck institution in a contemporary style.
“With culinary creations that blend tradition with modern touches, the restaurant plays a pioneering role in the region. The menu features the classic schnitzel, traditional dishes like Bauernkrapfen, as well as vegetarian delicacies,” says restaurateur Claus Schiller.
During the restoration work, the charming elements of days gone by were preserved, so that the old tiled stove now shines in new splendor and the paneling on the walls tells stories of times past. Additional rooms for overnight guests are available on the upper floor. Starting in summer 2024, an outdoor dining area will also open, serving as another gathering place for guests of all ages. The central location of “stadtwirt bruck.” allows guests to discover and enjoy downtown Vöcklabruck.
With the goal of combining tradition and innovation, the inn invites you to a unique culinary experience in the Hinterstadt district.
