Tired of browsing? Or do you just need a little break? We are now serving fine coffee, homemade cakes, juices, beer and Prosecco in the freudig.
Originally, Waltraud Huber was just looking for a space where she could design her upcycled products on the sewing machine. She came across a pop-up store with old furniture in the listed old building just outside the Landestheater. And because coffee is an indispensable part of her life, she found an original coffee machine and grinder at Excelsior in Trieste. In 2021, freudig was created around this good piece: a vintage café and shop. Guests sit on furniture from the 1950s to the 1970s, surrounded by home accessories from that time. Just as the art from Linz and the surrounding area is given a place on the walls, the people also find their space here - and many a unique piece. Because with the exception of a few things and Waltraud's Budl, everything is for sale: a selection of clothes from earlier times, handmade items made of fabric, paper and yarn. And of course homemade cakes, vegan cookies or the coveted tarte au chocolat with fresh fruit. Biography writers and a ukulele group meet here regularly, Bruckner University students give concerts, authors read from their works and closed societies rent the café for joyful encounters.Tue-Fri 9:30 am-6 pm
