You're probably wondering: Who is this Friedlieb anyway? Well, the good man is none other than the discoverer of the alkaloid that gives us coffee lovers so much pleasure, makes us more alert and focussed, boosts our metabolism and simply tastes so good in the world's best-known and most popular cultural drink: caffeine.Friedlieb Ferdinand Runge discovered it at the urging of his friend Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and who knows, perhaps we have caffeine to thank for the many amazing works of these two gentlemen...

Whatever the case, the fact is that here in our café, which was first mentioned as a bakery back in 1555, everything revolves around the caffeinated cult drink, which is why we see ourselves as the ideological daughters of Friedlieb. And we are sisters in spirit anyway! But enough words - we hope you can feel, taste and see that Friedlieb and Daughters is different from the usual run-of-the-mill brew.

We put our heart and soul, a lot of joy, energy and enthusiasm into it. We bake and cook with fresh and high-quality ingredients, as far as possible regional and organic, but always critically scrutinised by us, hand-picked and prepared in our own kitchen. We don't use any baking mixes or convenience products in our house, big daughters' word of honour!
