Schwand is located between Braunau (13 km) and Burghausen (15 km) and is a popular excursion destination. The name Schwand comes from the word "schwenden", meaning to cut wood, and dates back to the time when the area was cleared and reclaimed for fields and meadows. The beautiful area invites you to relax on long walks. A visit to the Gothic parish church of St John the Baptist is a welcome change to your leisure activities. The church was first mentioned in 1390. The church tower was built in 1497 from the stones of the nearby demolished Ratzlburg castle. The municipality of Schwand has become very well known, not least due to the stock-car club and judo club (national champions). You can find more information on the homepage of the municipality of Schwand im Innkreis.
