The Rudolfsturm is situated at the entrance to the Hallstatt Salzberg upper valley. This medieval watchtower from the end of the 13th Century was used as the permanent home of the mining operations manager until 1954.
The top floor of the building was renovated into a museum that tells the story of Johann Georg Ramsauer, discoverer of the Hallstatt burial fields.

from Linz: A1 motorway exit Regau on Salzkammergut Straße B145 direction Gmunden, Bad Goisern, Hallstatt
from Graz: A9 motorway exit Liezen on B320 in Trautenfels turn onto Salzkammergut Straße B145 via Bad Aussee to Hallstatt
from Villach: A10 Tauernautobahn to exit "Eben im Pongau", from there via Annaberg, Gosau to Hallstatt
by train arriving at "train station Hallstatt", take the ferry to Hallstatt, after arriving in Hallstatt, you have to choose between the one-hour steep ascent on foot or the 15-20 minute walk through Hallstatt to the valley station of the funicular, which takes you up another 15 minutes up the mountain.
by bus you arrive at the bus stop „Hallstatt Lahn“, same as before you´ll have to choose between the steep ascent and the funicular. The only difference is the distance to the Salzbergbahn, Approx. 2-3 minutes
