Danube winter: Experience the magic
The Upper Austrian Danube region is as diversified as any other region and therefore enchants its guests not only in the summer but also in the winter months. Numerous landscapes accompany you on the way from the bishop’s town Passau via the cultural city Linz and further to Grein. Especially during the winter months wide views from the mountain’s ridge fascinate visitors- when the valley and trees are covered by snow and the blue Danube weaves its way through the landscape.

On different Christmas markets and advent events along the Danube, you can easily get in the mood for a peaceful and pleasant festive advent season. Try a variety of regional specialties that will definitely make your heart beat faster. Handcraft, traditions and music events in an atmospheric ambience are offered as well.
You like to do some sports during your stay? Then winter hiking on the Donausteig, cross-country skiing, sledging or curling might be the right activities for you.  Hiking tours on the Donausteig can be easily planned by the interactive tour planner or by the Donausteig App. Moreover, you can also combine sports activities with a nice winter shipping tour on the Danube, where you can discover the region from the ship.
