The “Cistercians of the Strict Observance,” commonly known as “Trappists,” have always had a certain air of mystery about them. It’s no secret, however, that the monks of this contemplative order were sometimes quite skilled at brewing beer. A guided tour of the brewery followed by a beer tasting is a fascinating experience, not just for beer connoisseurs.
