Remembrance tour. A concentration camp in the middle of society. How was that possible? And what does it have to do with us?
Mauthausen was a Nazi concentration camp. Around 190,000 people from many countries were deported here. Many of them were murdered: around 90,000 people died in Mauthausen or one of its satellite camps.
Guided tour in English, German, Italian or Spanish
The tour takes us along the access road to the former sick camp, then to the edge of the quarry, where we can see the "stairs of death", and through the memorials park, where many countries built a memorial in honor of their citizens who died in the Mauthausen camp. After about an hour, we get to the gate of the former "protective custody camp" and see the roll call area, the prisoner barracks, the shower in the former laundry, the large mass grave in the former quarantine courtyard, and finally the crematorium ovens, the gas chamber and the room of the names. In addition to historical information, we tackle questions about the relationships between the concentration camp and the surrounding society. What could people know? What scope of action did they have? And what does this have to do with us, anyway?

Whether you book me as individual visitor, as a family or a group, the cost is the same.
Maximum group size is 25 participants. If your group is larger than 25 participants, the group will be split up for the tour. In this case I will be happy to find additional guides for you.
