A short research trip to the Ibmer Moor

With laptop and microscope on a research expedition in the Ibmer Moor
The research expedition (hike) takes us around and deep into the moor. Equipped with binoculars and a magnifying glass and a large portion of curiosity, we set off. We travel back in time to the ice ages to find out how moors were formed in the first place, what stories this landscape can tell and get a feel for the time it takes for a moor to grow. Speaking of growth! Yes, it's true. A moor, as eternal, gloomy and lost as it sometimes seems, is a living organism that is developing.......slowly, but nimbly..........but how?

We feel our way into the various habitats of the moor, perceive the space, understand the essence of the moor and sharpen our sense of the special features of this landscape. We observe rare plants and animals that colonize this habitat and need it to survive. So what is so special about the moor that we need to protect it permanently? Couldn't these plants and animals live somewhere else?

How dangerous is the moor? Can we really sink into the moor and drown? What happens to us then? Do these will-o'-the-wisps really exist? How do they come about? What do will-o'-the-wisps have to do with climate change? ...... We are on the trail of these questions and other myths. We gain an insight into the activities of a researcher, get a taste of the everyday life of a scientist and carry out simple experiments, tests and investigations ourselves to uncover the secrets of the moor.

For visual support, short videos are shown on a laptop, which explain, for example, the functional principle of carnivorous plants or the formation of "will-o'-the-wisps".

In the warm season, a soothing moor bath is of course a must!
