Open-air museum Katzensteinermühle with troad box and frame saw

Weyer, Oberösterreich, Österreich

Absolutely worthwhile - a visit to the Katzensteinermühle mill.
At the Gaflenzbach, shortly before the confluence with the Enns, you will find this old, fully operational mill from 1820. It was dismantled at its old location and rebuilt true to the original at the Gaflenzbach by the Katzensteiner family. Convince yourself of the romance of this excursion destination.

The Katzensteinermühle originally stood in the Küpferner Hammergraben and was the local mill for four farms since 1820, operating until 1955. In 1978, the mill was dismantled and relocated piece by piece.

Next to the Katzensteinermühle, an old grain storage facility from 1850, the "Troadkasten," was rebuilt. In this Troadkasten, one can trace the history of milling, from the grinding stone of the 6th century BC to the highly modern industrial mill of the present day. As the newest attraction, visitors can admire a so-called sawmill in the outdoor area near the Katzensteinermühle.

The environment around the Katzensteinermühle was redesigned in 2005. A fish ladder now allows various species such as trout, grayling, barbel, and huchen, etc., to carry out their natural migratory routes. The automatic weir ensures better flood protection.
