SPIRITUAL HIKING AT THE DONAUSTEIG:

Pilgrimage routes from all over Europe lead to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Some sections of this network of trails also run through Austria. Pfarrkirchen lies on the “Way of St. James,” which runs from the Czech Republic through the Mühlviertel region to Passau. From Pfarrkirchen, the Way of St. James passes through Altenhof and follows the Bishop Firmian Trail to Neustift and Gottsdorf (on the Sonnenweg) and continues via Untergriesbach (on the Zeller Donausteigrunde) to Passau. On the Donausteig, you can thus enjoy beautiful stages along the Way of St. James. Next to the church in Pfarrkirchen stands the Loreto Chapel with the “Black Madonna.”
So-called Black Madonnas can be traced back to the Slavic culture of the Mother Goddess belief (Trinity). The White Madonna leads to life, the Red Madonna sustains life, and the Black Madonna leads to other worlds (today we would say the afterlife).

I use the “Traumblickrunde” to let myself “go with the flow.”
I pay special attention to my personal needs, pace, rest breaks, hunger, thirst...

Directions:
We start in Pfarrkirchen at the elementary school. We head through the golf course into the forest and follow the “Salzweg” hiking trail along dirt roads to Hofkirchen, where we turn right. We continue toward Neubau. After passing the last farm, we descend through the forest to Niederranna. In Niederranna, we walk along the Danube toward Rannamühl (Rannamühl starting point). There, we turn right into the Rannatal Nature Reserve and climb toward the Falkenstein ruins. Leaving the forest, we find ourselves in Altenhof (Altenhof Castle). Via Wehrbach, we reach Pfarrkirchen again.Tip:
